The Four Pennies were an English, 1960s Beat music group, most notable for
their 1964 UK chart-topping song "Juliet". The Four Pennies were probably
the most commercially successful UK vocal/instrumental group that failed to
chart in the United States, during the so-called British Invasion.
The Four Pennies were founded in 1963, and initially consisted of Lionel
Morton (vocals, rhythm guitar), Fritz Fryer (lead guitar), Mike Wilshaw
(bass, keyboards, backing vocals), and Alan Buck (drums) The group's name
was chosen as a more commercial alternative to "The Lionel Morton Four",
and was decided upon after a meeting above a Blackburn music shop, the shop
being situated on "Penny Street".
In their homeland, the group scored a number 47 placing with their first
single, 1964's "Do You Want Me To". They then became famous for having a
number one hit in the UK Singles Chart later in 1964 with "Juliet". It was
written by group members Fritz Fryer, Mike Wilshaw and Lionel Morton. The
ballad was originally intended for release as a b-side (b/w "Tell Me
Girl"). "Juliet" was the only 1964 Number one by a UK group not to chart in
America. The US division of Philips Records issued only two of the Four
Pennies' singles stateside. Both these singles ("Juliet" and "Until It's
Time for You to Go") were major European hits, but while "Juliet" did pick
up some airplay on a number of US radio stations, "Until It's Time For You
To Go" did not. In any event, neither single picked up enough US airplay or
sales to chart.
Following the UK chart-topping success of "Juliet", the Four Pennies racked
up subsequent 1964 UK hits with their original "I Found Out The Hard Way"
and a cover version of Lead Belly's, "Black Girl". They also issued an
album, Two Sides of Four Pennies, which, as was customary for British acts
of the time, mostly ignored their hit singles.
After their first single of 1965 did not reach the UK chart, Fryer left the
Four Pennies to found a folk trio called Fritz, Mike and Mo. (The single's
b-side, "A Place Where No-One Goes", found success in Turkey later that
year). Fryer was replaced on guitar by David Graham. The revamped quartet
then hit the UK chart again with "Until It's Time for You to Go", written
by Buffy Sainte-Marie. 1966 saw the final UK chart entry for the Four
Pennies, with a cover version of Bobby Vinton's "Trouble Is My Middle
Name". Fryer then returned to the fold, replacing Graham.
They finished 1966 – and their career – with a non-charting album (Mixed
Bag), and two non-charting singles: UK songwriter Charles Bell's "Keep The
Freeway Open", and Tom Springfield's "No More Sad Songs For Me". By the end
of the year, the group had dissolved.
Other activitiesHaving left the group in 1965, Fritz Fryer formed the
folk-rock trio, Fritz, Mike and Mo, in collaboration with songwriter Mike
Deighan and Maureen Edwards (born c. 1931). Deighan had co-written material
for the Four Pennies, including three tracks on their first album, Two
Sides of Four Pennies. Fritz, Mike and Mo recorded two unsuccessful singles
for Philips, "Somebody Stole the Sun" c/w "Let Me Hear Your Voice"
and "What Colour Is A Man" (a cover version of a US release by Bobby
Vinton, who also provided the Pennies'"Trouble Is My Middle Name") c/w "So
Now You're Gone". After the failure of Fritz, Mike and Mo, Fryer returned
to the Four Pennies in 1966. After the group's dissolution, Fryer worked as
record producer for Motörhead among others.Lionel Morton recorded two solo
singles for Philips in the wake of the Pennies' dissolution. He also
recorded a version of "Waterloo Road," a song written by ex-Penny Mike
Wilshaw and Mike Deighan, for RCA Victor. "Waterloo Road" was originally
recorded by the pop-psychedelic band Jason Crest, who were discovered by
members of the Four Pennies. Morton, who was at one time married to the
actress, Julia Foster, went on to become a children's TV presenter in the
1960s and 70s.Alan Buck had drummed for both Joe Brown's Bruvvers, and
Johnny Kidd's Pirates, prior to joining The Four Pennies.The Four Pennies
appeared in two films. British Big Beat (1965) had the group miming to
their no. 1 hit, "Juliet", whilst Pop Gear (also 1965) contained

Every Mother's Son is the debut album by American garage rock band Every
Mother's Son, and was released in 1967 on MGM Records. It blended both
sunshine pop and folk rock influences. The album was preceded by the
single, "Come On Down to My Boat"
Following up on the success of their hit single "Come On Down to My Boat",
which eventually reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, Every Mother's Son
recorded their debut eponymous album in 1967. The single which was
previously recorded by garage rock band Rare Breed, had been recorded in
late 1966. It was written by the team of Wes Farrell and Jerry Goldstein
who also produced the album. The remaining ten tracks were all written by
Dennis Larden in conjunction with other group members. On the album, the
song "Come On Down to My Boat" was titled "Come and Take a Ride in My
Boat", as it was on the Rare Breed version. Much of the music on the album
was described as "clean summer rock" reminiscent of the Beach Boys or the
Mamas & Papas. The album eventually peaked at #117 on the Billboard 200.
Their follow up album did not chart, although it had two charting singles
on it, and the group broke up by 1968.

Всего одного единственного альбома группе Biglietto Per LInferno из Lecco
(регион Ломбардия) хватило для того, чтобы прочно занять свое место в
анналах истории итальянского прогрессива. Изначально группа появилась в
результате сотрудничества двух других коллективов Gee и Mako Sharks
малоизвестных рок-коллективов, пик активности которых пришелся на 1969-72
годы. В мир коммерческой музыки дорога Biglietto Per LInferno была открыта
после их участия на фестивале Be-In в Наполи (в июне 1973 года), где их
заметил представитель лейбла Trident Maurizio Salvadori и предложил
контракт на запись альбома, сделав их, тем самым, соседями по лейблу с
группами Semiramis, Dedalus и еще нескольких более или менее известных
коллективов. Группа не заставила долго себя ждать, и вскоре появился
одноименный альбом группы . Стилистически пластинка основана на том же
тонком взаимопонимании плотных гитарных риффов хард-рока и симфонической
утонченности, мелодичности и красоты, на которой буквально воспитана вся
итальянская музыка. Ну, а группа не ограничилась выпуском пластинки, более
того, основной профиль их функционирования был повернут лицом к концертной
деятельности. За недолгое время своего существования группа Biglietto Per
LInferno выступила на доброй сотне концертов и приняла участие в фестивалях
в Риме 1974 года, Милане и даже поиграла на разогреве на одном из концертов
группы Кевина Айерса в 1975 году. Ну, а вскоре был готов и второй альбом
коллектива, но, увы, появиться на свет должным образом ему не было суждено
гибель лейбла Trident похоронила под собой все надежды на будущее
коллектива и они, после нескольких концертов в Италии и Швейцарии,
распались. Записанный же альбом в 1992 году выпустили люди с Mellow Records
под названием Il Tempo Della Semina.

Charles Hardin Holley (September 7, 1936 – February 3, 1959), known
professionally as Buddy Holly, was an American musician and
singer-songwriter who was a central and pioneering figure of mid-1950s rock
and roll. He was born in Lubbock, Texas, to a musical family during the
Great Depression, and learned to play guitar and sing alongside his
siblings. His style was influenced by gospel music, country music, and
rhythm and blues acts, which he performed in Lubbock with his friends from
high school.
He made his first appearance on local television in 1952, and the following
year he formed the group "Buddy and Bob" with his friend Bob Montgomery. In
1955, after opening for Elvis Presley, he decided to pursue a career in
music. He opened for Presley three times that year; his band's style
shifted from country and western to entirely rock and roll. In October that
year, when he opened for Bill Haley & His Comets, he was spotted by
Nashville scout Eddie Crandall, who helped him get a contract with Decca
Records.
Holly's recording sessions at Decca were produced by Owen Bradley, who had
become famous for producing orchestrated country hits for stars like Patsy
Cline. Unhappy with Bradley's musical style and control in the studio,
Holly went to producer Norman Petty in Clovis, New Mexico, and recorded a
demo of "That'll Be the Day", among other songs. Petty became the band's
manager and sent the demo to Brunswick Records, which released it as a
single credited to "The Crickets", which became the name of Holly's band.
In September 1957, as the band toured, "That'll Be the Day" topped the US
and UK singles charts. Its success was followed in October by another major
hit, "Peggy Sue".
The album Chirping Crickets, released in November 1957, reached number five
on the UK Albums Chart. Holly made his second appearance on The Ed Sullivan
Show in January 1958 and soon after, toured Australia and then the UK. In
early 1959, he assembled a new band, consisting of future country music
star Waylon Jennings (bass), famed session musician Tommy Allsup (guitar),
and Carl Bunch (drums), and embarked on a tour of the midwestern U.S. After
a show in Clear Lake, Iowa, he chartered an airplane to travel to his next
show, in Moorhead, Minnesota. Soon after takeoff, the plane crashed,
killing Holly, Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper, and pilot Roger Peterson in
a tragedy later referred to by Don McLean as "The Day the Music Died".
During his short career, Holly wrote and recorded songs. He is often
regarded as the artist who defined the traditional rock-and-roll lineup of
two guitars, bass, and drums. He was a major influence on later popular
music artists, including Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eric
Clapton, and Elton John. He was among the first artists inducted into the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 1986. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him
number 13 in its list of "100 Greatest Artists".

The Vogues Complete Singles (1959-1971)

The Vogues are an American vocal group from Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, a
suburb of Pittsburgh. The original lineup consisted of Bill Burkette (lead
baritone), Don Miller (baritone), Hugh Geyer (first tenor), and Chuck
Blasko (second tenor).
They are best known for their chart-topping singles "You're the One", "Five
O'Clock World", "Magic Town", and "Turn Around, Look at Me". In addition to
touring the world, the group appeared on American Bandstand, The Tonight
Show, and The Ed Sullivan Show. They were inducted into the Vocal Group
Hall of Fame in 2001.
The group, originally named the Val-Aires, formed in 1958 at Turtle Creek
High School. They signed with Pittsburgh manager Elmer Willet, who produced
their first recording release "Which One Will It Be/Launie My Love". DJ
Porky Chedwick became a supporter booking the group for his rock and roll
shows and record hops. Chedwick put them on bills with the Drifters, the
Platters, and the Dells. Clark Race of KDKA radio promoted the group on his
KDKA-TV dance show. Having strong regional sales, the single was picked up
for national distribution by Coral Records.
After high school, several members of the group joined the Army while
others went to college. A few years later with their enlistments completed
and degrees in hand, they decided to record again. They pitched in $100
apiece to record a demo tape. They hired Nick Cenci, who had broken Lou
Christie, to produce the recording. In 1965, Cenci produced recording
sessions for the Val-Aires at Gateway Studios in Pittsburgh. The band
recorded vocals for a cover of the Petula Clark song "You're the One." It
was released on the band's own Blue Star label. Cenci persuaded John Rook,
program director of KQV, to play the single. With local airplay and sales
Cenci signed them to the Co & Ce label as the "Vogues". He had the single
distributed nationally. The song became a national hit reaching number four
on the Billboard Hot 100. Later in 1965, Cenci produced another Vogues
recording session giving the world the no. 4 Billboard hit, "Five O'Clock
World".
In 1966, Co & Ce Records released the singles "Magic Town", which reached
no. 21 in February, and the no. 29 "The Land of Milk and Honey". The
singles "Summer Afternoon" and "Lovers of the World Unite" were released on
Co & Ce in 1967. Co & Ce leased the Vogues to Reprise Records (distributed
by Warner Bros.) where they scored with cover versions of "Turn Around,
Look at Me" (#7), "My Special Angel" (#7), "Till" (#27), "No, Not Much"
(#34), "Earth Angel (Will You Be Mine)" (#42), "Moments To Remember" (#47),
and "Green Fields" (#92). The original group made many TV appearances in
the 1960s, including The Tonight Show, The Ed Sullivan Show, Shindig, The
Red Skelton Show, The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour, American Bandstand,
Hullabaloo, and several appearances on The Mike Douglas Show.
In 1971, the Vogues signed a recording contract with Bell Records and
recorded three singles ("Love Song", "Take Time to Tell Her", and "American
Family"). 1972 saw the group release one single on Mainstream Records
("Need You" b/w "Greatest Show on Earth"). By 1973, the Vogues were now a
trio (Burkette, Miller, and Blasko). Hugh Geyer had departed to spend time
with his family. Now recording for 20th Century Records the group released
three singles ("My Prayer", "Wonderful Summer", and "Prisoner of Love").
With little commercial success, these would be the last singles released by
The Vogues.
By the time the 1980s came around, the trio (Don Miller left in 1974 and
replaced by an endless list of vocalists) was doing less touring and was
concentrating on Western Pennsylvania venues. Bill Burkette left in 1983,
leaving only Chuck Blasko to carry on as the Vogues. At some point in the
late 1970s or early 1980s, the group's manager had trademarked the name and
assets of the Vogues. He then sold the trademark to another promoter who
starting booking other quartets as the Vogues. The trademark was sold
several times resulting in several groups of singers claiming to be the
Vogues.
In 2000, the trademark was purchased by vocalist and Pittsburgh area native
Stan Elich, who eventually would make this group the true Vogues. During
these years Blasko continued to perform as the Vogues, and clash with the
trademark group. At one point Blasko testified in front of Congress on the
Truth in Music Act. A lawsuit filed by Blasko ended with the Pennsylvania
court permitting Blasko's Vogues to perform in 14 Western Pennsylvania
counties and the trademark group to perform everywhere else in the world as
The Vogues. Chuck Blasko's Vogues continue to perform in Western
Pennsylvania.
From 2004 until 2006, original member Hugh Geyer toured with Blasko's group
in the 14 Western Pennsylvania counties that Blasko's group was permitted
to tour in. After creative differences with Blasko, Geyer left that group
at the end of 2006.
In March 2007, Geyer joined the national touring group of The Vogues
of "trademark" owner Stan Elich. Geyer continued to perform with this group
until his retirement in December 2012. In May 2008, original lead vocalist
Bill Burkette joined Geyer in touring the USA with the "trademark" Vogues.
The members of this group included Burkette, Geyer, group owner Stan Elich,
Troy Elich, and Jim Campagna. Stan Elich died in December 2010. His son
Troy now owns the trademark "The Vogues".
In 2010, The Vogues released a live album The Vogues Sings the Hits Live on
the Desert Trax Music label. This marked the first time in 38 years that
Burkette and Geyer recorded together.
The Vogues' line-up, as of March 2018, was Troy Elich, Royce Taylor, and Bo
Wagner. Taylor had previously been a member of The Vogues from 1991–97.
Wagner is a former member of Blasko's Pittsburgh group. Current band
members are Dean Mastrangelo (lead guitar), Artie Deleonardis (drums), JR
Wright (keyboards), and Rich Gooch (bass).
The original group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001.
Bill Burkette (born William W. Burkette III on September 17, 1942) died on
March 1, 2018 at the age of 75.

После развала своей первой официальной рок-группы и после записи первой
сольной работы, гитарист Luis Alberto Spinetta вернулся из Европы домой в
Буэнос Айрес в 1972 году и вместе с бас-гитаристом Osvaldo Bocón Frascino и
ударником Juan Carlos Negro Amaya из группы Pappos Blues создал новый
музыкальный проект под названием Pescado Rabioso. Название этой группы
переводится с испанского как «бешеная рыба». Вскоре, к группе присоединился
клавишник Carlos Cutaia. Необходимо сказать, что группа играла крутую
психоделию, с частыми гитарными наворотами, а после того, как коллектив
превратился в квартет, звучание стало ещё мощнее, агрессивнее и уже с

вторую работу двойной альбом, который считают одним из лучших в
аргентинском роке под названием Pescado 2. К сожалению уже в этот ранний
период между участниками коллектива Спинеттой и Лебоном появляются
серьёзные трения, что приводит коллектив к развалу в середине 1973 года.
Третий альбом Astaud фактически является сольной работой Luis Alberto
Spinetta, выпущенный под обложкой Бешеной Рыбы, но уже с помощью его
товарищей по предыдущей группе Almendra. Его брат по имени Carlos Gustavo
Spinetta сел за барабанную установку, Emilio Del Güercio взял бас-гитару, а
ещё один товарищ Rodolfo García взялся за перкуссию. По всей видимости этот
альбом был посвящён французскому актёру и поэту Antonin Artaud (1895-1948).
Звук последней работы в основном был мягче, чем на предыдущих альбомах,
чаще использовалась акустическая гитара и заметней влияние блюза. Конверт
пластинки был сделан специально неправильной формы и имел буклет со стихами
и технической информацией. После выпуска третьего альбома группа Pescado
Rabioso перестала существовать, и Luis Alberto Spinetta отправился
формировать новый коллектив по имени Invisible.

"Summer Holiday" is a song recorded by Cliff Richard and The Shadows, written by rhythm guitarist Bruce Welch and drummer Brian Bennett. It is taken from the film of the same name, and was released as the second single from the film in February 1963. It went to number one in the UK Singles Chart for a total of three weeks, as had the first single from the film, "The Next Time". After "Summer Holiday" had spent two weeks at number one, The Shadows' instrumental "Foot Tapper" - also from the same film - took over the top spot for one week, before "Summer Holiday" returned to the top spot for one further week. The track is one of Richard's best known titles and it remains a staple of his live shows. It was one of six hits Richard performed at his spontaneous gig at the 1996 Wimbledon Championships when rain stopped the tennis.
A cover version of the song by Kevin the Gerbil was used as the theme from TV-am's 1984 series Rat on the Road II.
The melody of the song is used in the chorus of the 1986 rap tune "Holiday Rap", by the Dutch duo MC Miker G & DJ Sven.

The Herd (Paradise & Underworld) 1967-69

The Herd were an English pop rock, band, founded in 1965 in the UK. In 1966
a 16-year-old Peter Frampton joined as lead singer and guitarist. The band
had three UK top twenty hits in the late 1960s, including "From the
Underworld" and "I Don't Want Our Loving to Die", before Frampton left in
1968 to form Humble Pie with Steve Marriott. The band broke up shortly
after, reforming briefly and unsuccessfully in 1971.
The Herd were founded in 1965 in south London, England, and recorded three
unsuccessful singles with Parlophone. In 1966 three members in succession
(Terry Clark, Louis Cennamo and Mick Underwood) quit the group and the
group got the line-up that made it famous. The singer, Peter Frampton, was
16 when he joined the group in 1966 and had just left school. The other
members were a few years older. Parlophone did not want to go on with them,
but Fontana was willing to give them a try. They also sent their manager
Billy Gaff away and brought in the songwriters/producers Ken Howard and
Alan Blaikley instead. This pair had been largely responsible for a string
of hits by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich.
Howard and Blaikley orchestrated for them a unique blend of pop and flower
power. After a UK Singles Chart near-miss with "I Can Fly" (April 1967),
the haunting "From the Underworld", (August 1967) based on the legend of
Orpheus and Eurydice, reached Number 6 later that year with help from
copious plays on pirate radio. It was a hit in other countries too. In the
Netherlands the song reached Number 3. "From the Underworld" was followed
by "Paradise Lost", (November 1967) which made it up to Number 15. In
October 1967 they supported the Jimi Hendrix Experience at The Saville
Theatre, London. Their greatest success came with "I Don't Want Our Loving
to Die", (March 1968) a Number 5 UK hit single.
With his boyish photogenic looks, Frampton was dubbed "The Face of ’68" by
teen magazine Rave.
The last months of 1968 were tempestuous times for the group. Steele left
the group, to be replaced by Henry Spinetti. The group dumped their
managers Howard and Blaikley, and briefly found a new mentor in Harvey
Lisberg who after three months found himself so bogged down with their
personnel problems that he politely withdrew his services. Most songs on
their first and only album Paradise Lost were written by Peter Frampton and
Andy Bown, just like their next single, "Sunshine Cottage".
Dissatisfied with mere teen idol status, and disappointed with the failure
of "Sunshine Cottage", Frampton left by the end of 1968 to form Humble Pie
with Steve Marriott. The remaining members Bown, Spinetti and Taylor made
another flop single, "The Game", then minus Taylor, formed the short-lived
Judas Jump with Allan Jones, saxophonist from Amen Corner, and Welsh
vocalist Adrian Williams. Taylor, who became a disc jockey, and Steele,
reunited briefly for a one-off single "You've Got Me Hangin' From Your
Lovin' Tree" in June 1971, to almost universal lack of interest. By the
late 1970s Bown became a member of UK rockers Status Quo and both Taylor
and Spinetti joined up with Gerry Rafferty.

The Astronauts were an American rock and roll band, who had a minor hit in
1963 with "Baja" and remained successful for several years, especially in
Japan. They have been described as being, "along with...(the) Trashmen, the
premier landlocked Midwestern surf group of the '60s." For most of their
career, the band members were Rich Fifield, Jon "Storm" Patterson, Bob
Demmon, Dennis Lindsey, and Jim Gallagher.The Astronauts developed out of a
group, The Stormtroupers, which was originally formed at Boulder High
School, Boulder, Colorado in 1956 by Jon "Storm" Patterson (vocals,
guitar), Robert Graham "Bob" Demmon (guitar; born February 11, 1939), and
Brad Leach (drums). In 1961, they became The Astronauts after adding
Richard Otis "Rich" Fifield (vocals, guitar) and Dick Sellars (guitar), the
change of band name recognising the fascist connotations of the previous
name (despite the different spelling) and to pay tribute to local hero,
astronaut Scott Carpenter. Patterson switched to bass, Leech was replaced
on drums by Jim Gallagher, and soon afterwards Sellars left to join the US
Navy, being replaced by Dennis Lindsey. With a line-up of Demmon,
Patterson, Fifield, Lindsey and Gallagher, the band gained a strong local
reputation, toured as far as Chicago and Dallas, Texas, and released their
first single, "Come Along Baby", in 1962, on the small Palladium label.They
were signed to RCA Records after a record company executive was impressed
by their performance at a local night club, the Tulagi.
Their first single on RCA was "Baja", an instrumental written by Lee
Hazlewood originally for his friend, guitarist Al Casey. Released by The
Astronauts in early 1963, the track was described as "a typical surf
instrumental with a reverberation-heavy twangy guitar and driving
drumbeat", and reached # 94 on the Billboard Hot 100 for just one week, the
pinnacle of their US chart career. However, they released a succession of
further singles on RCA, in an attempt by the record company to emulate the
success of the Beach Boys and other surf music-related groups in the charts
at the time. According to reviewer Richie Unterberger, "the group shone
brightest on their instrumentals, which used mounds of Fender reverb and
two rhythm guitars; when they sang, the results were much less successful."
Patterson and Fifield shared lead vocals, and the band recorded songs by
Roger Christian, Gary Usher, Dick Dale and Henry Mancini, among others.
Fifield, the lead guitarist,used a Fender Jazzmaster on the recordings,
with an early prototype reverb unit personally loaned to the group by Leo
Fender. Their 1965 song "Tomorrow's Gonna Be Another Day was covered by The
Monkees in 1966.
As well as a succession of singles and EPs, the band released four LPs over
nine months, starting in May 1963: Surfin' with The Astronauts – which
reached # 61 on the Billboard 200 album chart – Everything Is A-OK!
(recorded live at the Club Baja in Denver, Colorado), Competition Coupe,
and The Astronauts Orbit Campus (recorded live in Boulder).
They appeared several times on the Hullabaloo TV show, and have the
distinction of appearing in more beach party movies than any other surf
band: Surf Party, Wild on the Beach, Wild Wild Winter and Out of Sight.
Regarding the band's performance in 1964's Surf Party, the book Pop Surf
Culture states “The Astronauts bang out a thick, reverb-laden instrumental
called ‘Firewater,’ and their theme song ‘Surf Party’ happens to be one of
the best surf instrumentals ever recorded.”
In 1964, their record company discovered that they had a growing fan base
in Japan, where they outsold The Beach Boys and toured with The Ventures.
Five albums and three singles made the top 10 there, with "Movin'"–
retitled as "Over The Sun"– reaching number one in the country.
In all, they recorded nine albums. Gallagher and Lindsey were drafted for
Vietnam before the last album, Travelin' Men in 1967, and were replaced by
Mark Bretz and Rod Jenkins respectively. Demmon also left, being replaced
by Robert Carl McLerran, before Fifield and Patterson finally decided to
end the band name after a tour of Asia in 1968.
Associated actsFor a while, the same band – Fifield, Patterson, McLerran,
Bretz and Jenkins – performed in the US under the name SunshineWard, who
released one single, "Sally Go Around The Roses", in 1967. Patterson then
left the band and music business, and Fifield and McLerran formed a new
band, Hardwater, with Tony Murillo and Peter M. Wyant. In 1968, the band
released two singles and an album, Hardwater, on Capitol Records, produced
by David Axelrod. Fifield also had a role in assisting Axelrod and record
engineer David Hassinger, who owned the rights to the group name of The
Electric Prunes, to find a new group of musicians to take on that group's
name for their record, Mass in F Minor. Fifield contacted fellow Colorado
musicians, Richard Whetstone, John Herron and Mark Kincaid, who then agreed
to form one of the final line-ups of The Electric Prunes.
ReunionThe Astronauts reunited temporarily to perform in Boulder, Colorado,
in 1974, 1988 and 1989.
Later yearsA four-CD box set of the group's recordings, The Complete
Astronauts Collection, was issued on the Collectables label in 1997.
Dennis Lindsey died in 1991.
Mark Bretz died August 15, 1999, aged 54.
Robert "Bob" Demmon worked as a teacher in Coronado, California, whose
students included George Sanger. He died of cardiac arrest on December 18,
2010, at the age of 71.

Rhino's nine-volume British Invasion: The History of British Rock is the
most exhaustive and essential overview of '60s British pop/rock available.
Although the collection doesn't include tracks from the Beatles, the
Rolling Stones, the Who, Herman's Hermits, the Dave Clark Five, and the
early Animals, their absence doesn't hurt the series, since it spotlights
several artists who never had more than a handful of hits, plus many
forgotten gems. And there are plenty of major acts here, as well: The
Kinks, the Small Faces, the Yardbirds, Donovan, the Hollies, the Zombies,
the Spencer Davis Group, the Searchers, Manfred Mann, and Them are all
represented by their best-known tracks. The collection runs from the
beginnings of Merseybeat to the aftermath of psychedelia, meaning that it
chronicles the evolution of British pop/rock quite effectively. But The
History of British Rock shouldn't be thought of as simply an educational
overview of one of the most vital eras of pop; each volume is fun and
exciting, and sounds more like a good time than a history lesson. The
series is one of the cornerstones of any comprehensive pop/rock
collection.If I had to pick one collection of 60s music as my favorite, it
would be hands down Rhino's 9 volume collection of the British Invasion:
The History of British Rock. The collection delivers a total of 180 songs
from the years 1964 - 1968, without a poor selection among them. Although a
few of the more famous acts (Beatles-Stones-Who) are not represented, it
hardly matters as one gets to hear many tracks from artists such as The
Kinks, The Zombies, Peter and Gordon, and the Hollies (just to name a few),
without having to purchase collections of each individual artist. An
exemplary product from Rhino records. A real 5-star choice.

Sem dúvida, o Jethro Tull é uma das bandas de progressivo a qual possui o
início de carreira dos mais brilhantes. Trajando roupas desleixadas e
vagabundas, parecendo mais um anacronismo de um conto de Charles Dickens,
Anderson transmitiu uma antiga aura durante os anos de formação da banda no
final dos anos 60 e início dos anos 70, que persistiria em diversas outras
formações por décadas a fio emanando sempre muita qualidade e extrema
criatividade em suas composições.
O registro a seguir, conta com faixas dos dois primeiros e essenciais
discos do Tull lançados entre os anos de 1968 e 1969, This Was e Stand Up
respectivamente.
Gravado meses após lançamento de Stand Up, a banda já havia se apresentado
em território americano anteriormente e dessa vez se apresentou no Grand
Riviera Theater na cidade de Detroit.

A apresentação a seguir ocorreu em 28 de Novembro de 1969 em um setlist
relativamente curto com duração aproximada de 60 minutos. Porém, aqui
encontramos uma versão de 22 minutos da faixa 'We Used To Know', que fecha
o registro com maestria. Vale o destaque para 'Fat Man' que, na minha
opinião é uma das melhores faixas 'labo B' compostas pelo Jethro Tull em
toda sua carreira.
A qualidade do bootleg é razoavel e certamente destinado aos admiradores
desse tipo de registro.

Small Faces were an English rock band from East London. The group was founded in 1965 by members Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones, and Jimmy Winston, although by 1966 Winston was replaced by Ian McLagan as the band's keyboardist.
The band is remembered as one of the most acclaimed and influential mod groups of the 1960s with memorable hit songs such as "Itchycoo Park", "Lazy Sunday", "All or Nothing", and "Tin Soldier", as well as their concept album Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake. They later evolved into one of the UK's most successful psychedelic bands until 1969.
The Small Faces never disbanded; when Marriott left to form Humble Pie, the remaining three members recruited Ronnie Wood as guitarist, and Rod Stewart as their lead vocalist, both from The Jeff Beck Group, and carried on as Faces, except in North America, where this group's first album (and only their first album) was credited to Small Faces. This practice has continued on all subsequent North American reissues of the album to this day. A revived version of the original Small Faces existed from 1975 to 1978.
Small Faces were one of the biggest musical influences on the Britpop movement of the 1990s. Despite the fact the band were together for just four years in their original incarnation, Small Faces' music output from the mid to late sixties remains among the most acclaimed British mod and psychedelic music of that era. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.

Debut Album 'Mod Is The British Modbeats' LP (1967)

Founded in the mid-'60s by vocalist Fraser Loveman, guitarists Greig Foster and Mike Gorgichuk, bassist Joe Colonna and drummer Robbie Jeffrey, the Ontario-based British Modbeats played covers of British Invasion groups such as the Rolling Stones and Spencer Davis Group and posed as true Englishmen. Red Leaf Records signed them and released their 1967 album, Mod Is the British Modbeats. The band was gone by 1968.

With the invasion of the Beatles in 1964 and the subsequent British Invasion later that year, the North American music industry was turned upside down trying to compete and capitalize on the new music explosion.
In 1963, a St. Catharines Ventures-styled band called The Lintels were already aware of the British turmoil before it ever made it to Atlantic shores and so in late-'64/early '65 The British Modbeats were born. They were quick to jump on the craze and were the first to wear paisley, bell bottoms and shaggy hair which worked in driving Ontario teens out of their minds.
Ironically, the band only performed cover tunes, but the fans didn't care. They couldn't get enough and so, to fill the demand, the British Modbeats released the Doris Troy song "Whatcha Gonna Do About It" in 1966 followed by their debut album 'Mod Is The British Modbeats' in 1967.
The album spawned a hit single in "Somebody Help Me" followed by two others. The group would rise to the occasion with opening slots for The Rascals, The Byrds, The McCoys and play Expo '67 plus a pit stop at The Scene in New York City.
But with the change in attitudes during the Beatles evolution on 'Sgt. Pepper' and 'The White Album', the hippie movement had taken hold and the British Modbeats became redundant by 1968. They subsequently turned down an offer to record with Phil Spector in Detroit feeling that the US was not a particular avenue they cared to pursue.
Some of the members continued as The Modbeats and later as Looking Glass (different than the US band who had the hit "Brandy"). Fraser Loveman seemed to have the most success with appearances in theatre starring in "Hair" and "Annie Get Your Gun". He had a 1920's styled dance act before playing in the band The Village S.T.O.P. from 1968-1970. He formed the Fraser Loveman Group in 1970 and the Yenmor Blues Band from 1972 to 1973. He went on to work in a paper mill for 17 years and owned the St. Catharines concert hall Rock III.
The British Modbeats reunited in 1989 for some one-off nostalgia revues at Lulu's in Kitchener and Prudhommes. Loveman would then move on to Cafe Bizarre and was last seen writing new material with Modbeats member Joe Colonna in a 8-piece blues/soul/R&B band called Modbeats - Black, White & Blue.
